Yewrua was the birthplace of the ANEI co-operative in 1995. Starting with three producers and the efforts of its first director, Aurora Izquierdo, ANEI has undertaken great works in support of this community, which has now grown to include 53 coffee producers from within the local community.

We chose this exclusive select picking produced by 13 producers from within this group for its stand out quality and unique flavour profile.

These producers have worked hard in the construction of a dream, to better provide for the future of their families and in doing so they have improved their processes of depulping, fermenting and drying their coffee. All this work they do with the blessing of Mother Earth so that you in turn can enjoy the energy of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta’.

Yewrua is one of the great ancestral settlements and sacred places of the Arhuaco indigenous culture and is located in northern Colombia, northwest of Valledupar (the Capital of the Cesar Region) in the heart of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range.

The Arhuaco indigenous group is dispersed throughout five areas of the region within 22 settlements, of which Yewrua occupies the second place in importance after the Arhuaco capital (Nabusimake). Thanks to the continuous effort and the collaborative work of this community and with the support of ANEI, Yewrua has been able to forge development and social wellbeing, including the development of schools, health posts, an aqueduct, chapels and sacred temples (Kankuruas) to help support a better quality of life for its inhabitants.

This year Anei completed construction of their own processing facility, which means they are now able to control the quality of their coffee from seed through to packaging and sending to C4 roastery for all of our enjoyment.
