Exotic Lot #3: Mexico (Gesha) Finca El Cuervo FTO (Natural) - Light / Filter Roast

Following our previous two lots of this amazing coffee we finish with the thrid and final: Exotic Lot #3.

This extremely rare nano lot is a natural processed 100% Gesha Variety, and comes from Luis Herrera's farm in Chiapas, Southern Mexico. Gesha is widely regarded as one of the highest quality cups of coffee in the world, and frequently breaks records for prices sold at auction.

Luis is a member of the San Fernando Cooperative in Chiapas (where we also get our Mexico medium roast from) San Fernando is one of largest and most well-established cooperatives in Mexico. He used to be the manager of the cooperative, but is now active in regional politics in Chiapas and in advocating for coffee farmers on the national stage. His daughter Silvia is now the manager.

Luis and Silvia care for and harvest their own coffee trees, not far from the Cañon de Sumidero; a beautiful protected wilderness area with lush rainforests and a river valley flanked by steep canyon walls. Their farm produces certified Fair Trade and Organic coffee.

This lot was harvested at peak ripeness, and the cherry was spread out on raised African style drying beds in their greenhouse, then dried for 26 days, being turned frequently and meticulously to ensure even drying.

Luis and Silvia planted this Gesha crop as an experimental crop in an effort to test different varieties and processing methods within the larger cooperative as a way that other farmers could add value and lift quality.

Coffees like this don't come around often, and on the rare chance that they do we jump at the opportunity. This is the first of 3 nano lots we'll be releasing, enjoy it while you can! (pun intended)

This coffee is delicate, Floral, and clean. We tasted tangerine, Jasmine, and Peach.

A brew worth taking the time to savor.
